World class triathlon returns to Subic Bay, the triathlon capital of the Philippines, when Sunrise Events holds the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay Philippines Presented by Big Boss on June 2, 2019.
The event promotes a healthy lifestyle and is meant to inspire Filipinos to pursue their own fitness journey according to Century Pacific Food, Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Greg Banzon.
Subic Bay, a premier holiday destination for visitors from all over the world, hosts the event. Subic is a haven for outdoor activities with its grand untouched forest, trails perfect for trekking by nature lovers and spectacular theme parks.
The 1.9k swim consists of a single loop course which starts at the Subic Bay Boardwalk. Participants will swim 750 meters then turn left. After 400 meters they will again turn left and swim the 750 meters back to the beach.
From the beach the participants will run into transition for the 90k bike ride. From the Boardwalk participants will ride to Tipo Gate and into Tipo Road, which winds up and down hills, before entering SCTEX (Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway).
Riders will have a smooth and fast ride along the flat roads of the country’s longest expressway which showcases the lush fields and mountainous landscape of the area.
The 90km, two-loop course will make its first turnaround at KM 29. Riders head back and make a second turnaround at KM 45. They head back again and make the final turnaround at KM 61, head back and exit Tipo Gate before riding back to the transition area.
From the Boardwalk runners will exit Waterfront Road and head to Argonaut Highway until KM 10.5. They will then return through the same route back to the finish line.
