“It has been 10 years since the first IRONMAN 70.3 was held in Camarines Sur. From 583 participants and one race in 2009, the sport has grown by leaps and bounds, with multiple races all over the Philippines. We at Sunrise Events are happy to be at the forefront of this triathlon renaissance and are proud to finally stage the first full Ironman in the country with the2018 Century Tuna IRONMAN Philippines which will showcase one more time the best the country can offer,” he said.
The 2018 Century Tuna Ironman Philippines will award $25,000 as prizes and 30 age group slots for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
It will be a full weekend affair and will accept entries for the full distance, the relay category and the IRONKIDS as well.
The 2018 Century Tuna Ironman Philippines is a 3.8 kilometer Swim, 180 kilometer Bike and a 42 kilometer Run which will be held at the center of triathlon universe in the country at Subic Bay.
The Ironman journey begins with a one-loop, ocean swim in the pristine waters of Triboa Bay cove which starts and finishes at ACEA Resort.
After the swim the athletes transition onto their bikes and head out of Subic Bay and into the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) for a two-loop ride which ends at the second transition at Remy Field in downtown Subic Bay.
The two-loop marathon run will traverse a path which offers magnificent coastal views with local supporters lining the streets to cheer the triathletes.
